AZURE ARCHITECT
Job Description
Senior Azure Solutions Architect
Location: India (Remote/Hybrid – work out of Virtusa office)
Time Zone: Requires about 4-hour overlap with US till noon ET
Role Summary:
You will lead the technical discovery and architectural mapping of a newly acquired organization and be the subject matter expert on Azure architecture interfacing with other cloud architects esp. from the AWS space. You will report directly to the Lead in the US and serve as the bridge between our established AWS standards and the incoming Azure infrastructure. Your immediate priority is not building from scratch, but auditing, documenting, and securing the "as-is" environment to prepare for integration.
Key Responsibilities:
Discovery & Mapping: Conduct a comprehensive audit of the acquired Azure subscriptions, resource groups, and networking topology. Create high-level architectural diagrams that map the existing Azure footprint to our corporate IT standards.
Security & Compliance Audit: Evaluate the security posture of the incoming environment (e.g. using Microsoft Defender for Cloud and Sentinel). Identify critical gaps in compliance, specifically focusing on regulated utility standards (data sovereignty, access controls).
Cross-Cloud Connectivity: Design the secure connectivity strategy between our current AWS VPCs and the new Azure VNETs (using VPN Gateways or ExpressRoute/Direct Connect bridges).
Translation & Mentorship: Act as the "Azure Interpreter" for our internal AWS engineering teams. Create comparison documentation (e.g., "Azure Function Apps for AWS Lambda users") to upskill our current workforce.
Identity Integration: Plan the federation strategy between the acquired Entra ID / Azure AD tenants and our corporate identity provider.
Required Skills:
Expert-level Azure Architecture: Deep mastery of Azure Management Groups, Subscriptions, and Policy (Azure Governance).
Networking: Strong experience with Hub-and-Spoke topologies, Azure Firewall, ExpressRoute, and private endpoints.
Identity Management: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, OAuth/OIDC, and B2B collaboration features.
The "Bridge" Factor: Proven experience working in Multi-Cloud environments. Must be able to articulate Azure concepts using AWS terminology.
IaC Auditing: Ability to read and reverse-engineer existing infrastructure using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
Experience:
10+ years in IT Infrastructure/Cloud, with at least 5 years dedicated to Azure Architecture.
Experience with M&A (Mergers & Acquisitions) technical due diligence is a massive plus.
2. Senior Azure Cloud Engineer (Operations & Discovery)
Location: India (Remote/Hybrid – work out of Virtusa office)
Time Zone: Requires about 4-hour overlap with US till noon ET
Role Summary:
We are looking for a hands-on Azure Engineer to perform the deep-dive technical "forensics" on our acquired infrastructure. While the Architect defines the strategy, you will be in the console executing the audit scripts, tagging resources, checking backup integrity, and ensuring the lights stay on during the transition. You will be the primary operator for an environment that is new to our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Audit: execute automated discovery scripts to inventory all Azure assets (VMs, SQL Databases, App Services, Storage Accounts) and tag them according to our corporate taxonomy.
Operational Health Checks: Review Azure Monitor and Log Analytics workspaces to assess the health, performance, and "noisy neighbor" issues of the acquired applications.
Access Remediation: Audit current RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) assignments to identify over-privileged accounts and implement "Least Privilege" access immediately.
Cost Analysis: Analyze Azure Cost Management reports to identify orphaned resources or immediate cost-saving opportunities (e.g., unattached disks, stopped VMs).
Documentation: Document runbooks for day-to-day operations of the Azure estate (Patching, Backups, DR drills) for our central NOC.
Required Skills:
Azure Core Services: Hands-on proficiency with Azure Compute (VMs, VM Scale Sets), Azure SQL, and Azure Storage.
Scripting: Advanced PowerShell and Azure CLI skills are non-negotiable for auditing and inventory tasks.
Monitoring: Deep experience with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics Query Language (KQL).
Security Ops: Experience configuring NSGs (Network Security Groups), ASGs, and Azure Bastion.
Terraform/Bicep: Ability to write Infrastructure-as-Code to "codify" the existing manual resources for future automation.
Experience:
5+ years of System Engineering experience, with 3+ years as a dedicated Azure Engineer.
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) required.
