Application Data Modeling: Design, expand, and maintain Zeplyn's core Python application data layers, object models, and schema validation systems. Build the relational data structures that serve as the single source of truth for our user-facing product features. Core Backend Engineering: Write clean, modular, and testable Python code using web and application frameworks (Django) to support API integrations and core product logic. Integration & State Syncing: Build bidirectional, secure API integration engines to sync data between Zeplyn and external enterprise software. Handle state synchronization, webhooks, error states, and data translation layer logic. Concurrency & Async Systems: Optimize, profile, and debug our distributed asynchronous application loops and task queues (Celery/Redis). Ensure near-real-time data delivery and task routing without worker lockups or application lag. Production Observability: Instrument the core application with tracking, logging, and performance metrics (using Datadog or OpenTelemetry) to proactively monitor data health and application error rates. Hard Experience & Education Requirements 5+ Years of Production Software Engineering: A proven track record of writing production-grade application code and designing distributed system backends. (Candidates whose experience is limited to big-data warehousing, analytical ETL scripts, or writing BI reports will not be considered.) 3+ Years of Python & Data Modeling Experience: Proficiency with Python and web/application frameworks (specifically Django, FastAPI, or equivalent ASGI architectures). Familiarity with application-level data serialization and validation libraries like Pydantic. Production Async Experience: Direct experience building and troubleshooting distributed, asynchronous task frameworks (like Celery/Redis) where execution lag directly impacts the live user experience. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Equivalent professional experience building complex product software at scale will be considered in lieu of a degree. What We’re Looking For System Architecture Focus: Ability to design scalable, decoupled, and reliable backend service layers. You think in terms of system boundaries, clean API contracts, error routing, and distributed application logic rather than single-script processing loops. Advanced Data Modeling: Expertise structuring data for high-performance transactional (OLTP) applications, defining core entity relationships, and managing domain ontologies. You can translate real-world business logic into clean, programmatic relational schemas (e.g., PostgreSQL). Monitoring & Tracing: Experience using modern application performance monitoring (APM) tools to profile code execution, trace transactions, and isolate data processing bottlenecks.
